• Students will learn how to develop a comprehensive Resource Management Plan (RMP) by systematically identifying physical assets, defining maintenance activities, establishing time standards and service levels, and building a maintenance budget. This process provides the foundation for sustainable, transparent, and defensible decision-making, ensuring that limited resources are used effectively to maintain asset value, meet service expectations, manage maintenance costs, and reduce long-term risk.

  • Risk management is a foundational principle embedded throughout the entire curriculum, guiding decision-making at every stage of the Resource Management Planning process. Students are taught to consider risk and liability when determining which assets to inventory, which maintenance activities to prioritize, how often tasks should be performed, and how time and resources are allocated. Budgeting discussions emphasize the cost-effectiveness of proactive risk mitigation versus reactive emergency response.

  • This focus area builds foundational skills in communication, teamwork, and interpersonal dynamics, essential to effective resource management. Through sessions on team building, verbal de-escalation (Verbal Judo), and professional conduct, participants learn how to collaborate, lead, and navigate workplace challenges with confidence and clarity.
